After 2 years of refining the then radical idea of a selectorized dumbbell, the Pro Aluminum PowerBlock was brought to the fitness market place in 1993. The Pro Aluminum Series weight plates are a one piece 1/2" thick weight plate with machined (rounded) weight plates. The handle is constructed of aluminum with neoprene covered steel center handle and rubber covered steel wrist supports. The adder weight tubes are also of steel construction. The Aluminum handle weighs 5 lbs more than the composite handles of the other models and is why the weight range on this model starts at 10 lbs.
